Thanks for the feedback.

I was given the radio and don't really have a use for it, so I'd rather try a cheap DIY solution. If that doesn't work, I'll consider getting it repaired.

Imagine you took a pair of scissors and cut three leads directly perpendicular to their direction. It's a real clean break...there's nothing missing. If I align the two together, they're touching. I guess taking pics of the break would have been a good idea. :? I'll get some in a little while. The c...

I don't know if that will help any. Pitch looks to be around 1mm.

The cable is 12cm long until it enters the radio face. I haven't pulled that apart yet, so i'll have to see how it's connected in there.

Patching Ribbon Cable

Is this even possible?

I have a small ribbon cable that has a few traces cut in an automotive radio. I know a replacement is out of the question. It must flex because the face on the radio is motorized.

Thanks for any info on patching this to get it working again.

Electronic Component Grab Bags

Where can I find something similar to this? I just need a huge assortment of various transistors, capacitors, resistors, etc. I haven't done enough work to build up my own collection and it's inconvenient to have to go purchase the parts I need for every little project I do. I think I've seen these ...

Yep, I think you're right...

quote:
What you have is a custom controller for Club Car designed to run a series motor manufactured by GE.

Is it just time to ditch the controller and st...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

On my controller, there are only three large terminals.
B+, B-, and M-. There is a label on the controller for A2, but there is not a plug like on most 1204's I've seen. It's not like it's been hacked up...it looks like it came that way from the factory.
Does this mean that my controller is only...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

I found a speed controller cheap. It's a Curtis 48v/225amp. Hopefully it works...I won't have a way to check for sure until I get the batteries and motor. The guy had good feedback on Ebay, so I assume there shouldn't be a problem.
I should be picking up a go-kart this Tuesday. It's a two-seater, ...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

Finally found a ESC. Picked up a used Curtis 1204 out of a golf cart for $80. It's the 48 volt 225 amp version.
Should work nicely. Hopefully this one will work out fine.
I won a new one on Ebay a week ago and the guy cancelled the transaction. He had 10-15 on Ebay at the same time (brand new)...

Re: Electric Motor Accessories

The 2nd link from Philba and Grainger both seems to have an extensive collection of parts. I found plenty that will fit the shaft.
I guess I'll use a chain drive. I never would've thought a sprocket could have so many specs.

Electric Motor Accessories

I'm looking for some pinion gears and other accessories for some electric motors I have. They have a 3/16" shaft. All I can find are parts for larger motors or small R/C motors with 1/4" shaft at the largest.
I'm trying to build a homemade R/C vehicle or something similar with a few 1/4...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

I found three of the above motors on Ebay for $27 new in box. I picked them up to play around and keep me busy until a good deal pops up on a motor.
http://www.robotcombat.com/marketplace_motors_npc.html
These are extremely cheap. The top one does 0.7hp for $70. The others do almost 4hp for $2...

Re: Electric Go-Kart

Ugh...I lost the auction. It ended while I was at work. :o
I was thinking about some kind of high current relay for the on/off, but I guess that will still not work with the high torque. I'll look for a speed control.
A live axle will have to work. Aren't a lot of go-karts set up that way, anyw...
