Re: Relay Selection

No it wouldn't be powered all the time, the toggle to turn it on is illuminated as a warning the ckt is energized and the toggle will be connected to a keyed power source so if I forget and leave the switch on it would power down when I turn off the key.

Relay Selection

Everyone has been so helpful I thought I would post yet another question...
In this automotive ckt I am experimenting with…I am using 12vdc for an illuminated toggle switch and the same 12v from the switch to control a relay. If the ckt I am switching is low voltage 2.5vdc and sending it to ground...

Re: Resister Install without a board

They are 1/2W carbon film, 330ohm and 68ohm, one each. Will be connected to a relay that switches to ground and the other end connected to a 2.5vdc ckt.
Expected "on" times for this ckt are 1-7 minutes, I have tested it to only 3 minutes so far and no burn out. Do you think these 2 resis...

Resister Install without a board

I would like to install 2 ceramic type resisters in-line on a wire.
Is there some sort of holder for this or do I just solder them in and fix up some sort of support and insulation for it.
It's for an automotive application and I don't want bare resisters hanging under the dash.

Re: Do I need a diode here?

Thanks everyone for the advise, I didn't think I needed the diode but thought I would ask anyway.
The toggle sw contacts would be the only thing it would protect.

Re: Source for lighted push button or rocker switches

Hi Edd, Those are a couple of neat ideas there, thanks! What I have regrouped to is using a standardized inexpensive Illuminated 3 pole switch in conjunction with a relay wired in such a manner that would provide the ground output I need.
I posted another question about that circuit here
Just n...

Do I need a diode here?

In the 12VDC relay circuit (below) where the trigger is a simple toggle switch supplying power for the relay and the Neg output is a low current load..
Do I need to install a diode for protection across terminals 86 & 85?
Image

Re: Source for lighted push button or rocker switches

Whew! Tall order on that application...
DPST rated for 12v plus illuminated really narrows the field. So far looks like a rectangle rocker is my only option.
Drilling a round hole would have been more easy.
