One possible solution is to find a place where you can cut a vent through the floor, to the Air Conditioned room above your computer room. Transfer conditioned air when its needed. Without doing a heat load its hard to say how big the vent would have to be. Ballpark - 4 x 8 or 10 x 6 should be plent...

Give Parallax a serious look, www.parallax.com. They have excellent support and very good instructional courses that can be completed with independant study. They are a little pricey up front, but, you don't have the added expense of the PICBasic compiler and a programming module.

Run caps were never put in bakelite cases. The metal can is a safety feature. One plate of the cap is internally connected to the canister. Thats what that marked terminal signifies.
