GEIGER MULLER TUBES, WHERE DO I FIND ONE THESE DAY

I am in the mood to build a Geiger Counter/ Radiation meter. The commercial ones are sold out. So, does anyone know where I can get a tube, or two without dealing with international orders?

Anybody building one and have a good circuit to use?

Tips pointers and advice welcome. Thanks.

Wanted Geiger Muller tubes

Needless to say I would like to build a Geiger Counter/Radiation meter of some sort. I am looking for a good tube that would be appropriate for the fallout from the Japanese power plants. Perhaps a Lionel 700 type replacement? I have not committed to a particular design. I would like to stay away fr...

Re: Soldering irons, stations, Ungar still in business

Thanks guys. Well, that is unfortunate that Ungar has been mothballed. I did see the Antex and they will probably get my order. I built a Heathkit Freq counter years ago and used a Princess iron. The unit worked great, and still does after nearly thirty years. So, I have good memories of this little...

Soldering irons, stations, Ungar still in business

I am just getting back into the building mode, due to QRP hamradio needs. Is Ungar still in business? I am looking for a supplier of Princess irons, or an equal replacement. Low power precision type. What are the most popular brands of grounded soldering stations that will handle mos/static devices?...

Sound pretty neat!

What was the brand and model you saw in the contractor's catalog. Was the cost less than $10k? :)
Yes, the price is still out of my need/league at about $4 to $6k.

[quote="rshayes"]Silicon photosensitive devices, Good job!! Thanks for the info. I would think we have some folks who have access to these neat devices, but as you said, it may be too soon. The hand held units I saw were in a contractors catalog. They can help find a water leak in a roof, ...

Any particular brand? I am going to start scrounging, or I will look for some ...

Any home built thermal imager cameras?

I see that many hand held thermal imagers exist. They are used in fire departments and construction..

Finding leaks, or hotspots..

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips, w/gps GRIPES!!

No sympathy for Bill Gates. The product is either functional for planning a trip, or it isn't.. I have a piece of property near the lake. Would like to know where it is so that I can have an real estate agent sell it for me. But,, I have no reference to its location since the lake disappears.. Now, ...

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips, w/gps GRIPES!!

Went back to Staples and returned two Konica Minolta 1400 printers. Dirty rat bast!!!!s don't put full size cartridges in their machine, for one, and secondly, they don't tell you. The hell with them. I am going to push for legislation that forces retailers to list the printers that don't come stand...

Re: METAL DETECTORS

Do a search on Treasure Hunter. You will find the responses, and links to sites that will help you build a pulse type metal detector.Go for the oldest posting. Not a good machine for descrimination, but worthy of use in the winter at the beach.. I would build one, and probably will.. Good luck.

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips, w/gps GRIPES!!

And when I stopped into Staples today, they had this combo for $89.99. I paid $99.99 two weeks ago, I need to beat them up for the difference. Matter of principal, nothing personal!!

HEY JOLLY,

The name of the body of water is Lake Ainslie. It is in the county of Iverness, north of Port Hood in Nova Scotia. http://www.auracom.com/lamarathon/mapstola.htm

Try it on your box and see what happens. Thanks,

Microsoft Streets and Trips, w/gps GRIPES!!

Anybody know where the website is to bitch out Microsoft??? Forums, etc?? I just loaded the stuff on my new laptop.. Not really that bad, had to tweek the USB port to see the GPS receiver,, but lots of fun. My gripe is that they need to tweek the accuracy of the software, to the tune of a 72 square ...

Re: Radio Shack pulling a scam???

You know, you could be correct. Bushnell is selling this "new" device to some other questionable retailers.. But,,keep in mind, Radio Shack proabably has a team of buyers, and lawyers, who have reviewed the product offerings to make sure that any product liablity is kept to a minimun. Plus...
