Hello all you good people: I am looking for a schematic that will recognize when a computer connects to a phone line Weather I am on the Phone or when the line is open or not in use. I was wondering if there is a simple solution like detecting a fax ring or modem. When you have a fax machine it can ...

Re: What is this unit?

Hello Chris: Thank's For the info and to answer your question the input is 120 volts AC to the brigde and 167 or so volts DC out and the supposedly transistors or fets have 70 or so volts on one of them and 160 volts on the other. That is on the drain or collectors. You may be correct in that they a...

Re: What is this unit?

Now that I got some attention maybe you guys can shed some light on this project. First of all the transformer that is used for the chopper is a small doughnut about 3/8 inch diameter and has three windings. Accordion to the circuit that I drew up the primary feeds one side of both sections of the l...

Re: What is this unit?

Thank's ED for your insight. I took this transistor out of a light bulb that was made by GE in China and I took the liberty of tracing out the circuit and found that two of them are used in an inverter circuit. I tested both transistors in and out of the circuit and they both read 12 ohms in either ...

Re: Laptop Help

Jolly Roger!! I have'nt forgotten You. I am trying all that you have suggested slowely but surley and it will take me a little time to do all that you suggested because I am very cautious with taking things apart and writing notes and parts placement to make sure that when I do find the trouble ever...

Re: Trouble shooting Olivetti typeriter

I should be so lucky. Thank's for the Info tho. I am afraid that it's more than a bad connection. The ribbon does not moove when you type a character. It stays in one place and ocsionaly reverses it rotation a bit. I suscept that the stepper motor is not getting it's phase modulated pulse but I can'...
