Re: Help with animation

A basic guide to servos can be found here
You can also google and find lots of info on them.
As far as modifying the servo to rotate continuously, it depends on the servo mfg. So read the above guide. Decide on a servo. Google for how to modify the specific servo you plan to buy for continuous ...

line-level audio to preamp level

I'm slowly setting the stage for my car computer and one of the things I've had problems with is audio. My head unit doesn't have auxiliary inputs. I've gone through 3 different RF Modulators and none of them have worked well (if at all). I also don't have a CD changer control so getting an auxiliar...

Plasma Globe oddity

This may be a stupid question, but it's been in the back of my brain for some time.
I noticed something odd about a plasma globe I purchased some time ago and I was hoping that someone could shed some light on the behaviour.
If I have my hand on the globe and touch someone, they get a decent sho...

Re: Switching lights with turn signals

Thank you for the detailed response, haklesup.
When no one responded initially, I decided to forge ahead. I ended up using 1 2PDT and 1SPDT relay for each side. I put another 317T regulator at 5v for power (for amber). I didn't want to run another 5v lead through the firewall as it was really hard...

Re: Switching lights with turn signals

Thanks for the input. Hopefully this won't come off rambling but I'm starting to get over my head so bear with me.
The lighting system is already all installed and runs off 5V (a 317T regulator). This is my first project and I ended up making many running changes. If I had to to it over again, I w...

Re: Switching lights with turn signals

I had an idea on an alternative way of wiring the turn signal into my RGB leds and I was hoping that somebody could tell me if it's an inherently flawed idea.
Bear in mind that I am new to electronics and I really don't know what I'm talking about (yet anyway).
What I'm trying to do, more or les...

Re: Switching lights with turn signals

Thanks for the input. This is my first undertaking and it's been through so many revisions. I figured it was a good learning project that I could keep extending.
The red and green only draw 20ma each so if I have two on each side (which is the most I'm expecting) I would think I could get 80ma eas...

Switching lights with turn signals

I've been working on a lighting system for my car that consists of RGB LEDs (So I can change the color manually or eventually drive off other inputs).
What I'd like to do for the lights on the hood, is have the appropriate side light flash orange with the blinkers.
Basically what I am trying to...

Re: teddy ruxpin

Probably the easiest way would to figure it out would be to put one of those "tape adapters" for cars without CD players in it and hook it to the line out of your PC. It should be fairly easy to generate tones into either channel.
Update
From http://www.mindspring.com/~mathue/workings....

Re: Question on calculating dissipation

Thanks for all the info. (I ended up using the .1W pots before your replies).
So far with 100ma going through, they don't even get warm. There may well be some other aspect of my setup that accounts for this, but so far so good.
