Re: Using MOSFET with MCU for switching?

yea - but they all have a source, a drain, and a gate. And as long as they are N-channel they ought to work the same way...at least as far as the spec sheets seem to say.

Re: Using MOSFET with MCU for switching?

okay...some responses.
The $10-15 dollar figure was for some alternatives such as I/O modules...the MOSFETs were chosen for their low price.
They are N channel devices, IRF740 or something like that...I'll find out for sure.
They are hooked up as you say, but the load is on always - in this ca...

Re: Using MOSFET with MCU for switching?

Uses the ground to control the load how? We can't find any examples on the web, and he just told me that what's happening is the unit seems to be normally open...i.e. his load is on and any input at the base seems to be irrelevant. Are there any sample circuits out on the web for this?
Thanks again!

Using MOSFET with MCU for switching?

Someone asked me if they could use a MOSFET to handle a higher current switching job by triggering the base with a TTL high out of a microcontroller. I know nothing about MOSFETs, so thought I'd pass the question along.
He wants to switch a DC load, something around 3A, and the MOSFETs he has are ...
