function generator

I have came across a function generator and I'm trying to use it for just tinkering around at home. This unit has coax cable connectors for the output and also for it's freq. counter. Does anyone know what kind of cable/adapter I will need to use this generator for breadboard type circuit simulation...

testing transistors

Does anyone know of a quick and easy way to test transistors with a multimeter? I am rebuilding an old amp, it's a BGW 750C, and there are 6 Motorola SJ7407A transistors and 6 RCA 6803394 transistors per channel (2 channels). I'm assuming that these are FET's but I haven't been able to find anything...

Re: de bounce

Well the stillwell solution seems simple and effective, only problem is that this is just not practical to implement in my situation. You'd just have to see what I have. No, this will require some electronics but thanks for that idea, it's a good one.

de bounce

Hello, I'm looking for a way to take the bounce out of a simple circuit. I have a float switch connected in series with the coil of a 12 volt relay. When the float switch closes, the relay coil energizes and pulls in it's contact. The problem is that the float bounces during transition from open to ...

Re: another transformer question

Hey thanks alot, it's clear as a bell to me now. So if you had say a motor that was rated in hp or watts, then you would just simply divide by the power factor (cos theta) to get the va rating. Cool, thanks again.<p>One other question, for a 3 phase transformer, if we know the full load amps, then d...

another transformer question

Why are transformers rated in KVA instead of just watts? I know that it has something to do with the power factor but I'm not sure what. Thanks!

Re: thevenin circuits

Hey thanks. Can of worms...probably a good way to put it. Russ I was just considering any arbitrary circuit that has both independent and dependent sources. The Thev. procedure doesn't let you de-activate those dependent ones to figure out the Thev. equivalent circuit, but it will let you de-activat...

thevenin circuits

Hey guys, just have a question about thevenin equivalents. I know how to do them with dependent sources, but my question is why can't we de-activate those dependent sources like we do to independent sources when figuring out the equivalent resistance??? thanks...

multisim

Anybody use Electronics Workbench? I have the 2001 student version and my question is this. When I place a current controlled voltage source in a circuit, the controlling current acts in reverse as to what I would expect it to. In other words, if the direction of my current supply is pointing in the...

Re: cable modem

hello, thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that I've already bought a new splitter and it does the same thing. I really think that it's one of my cables maybe in the attic that has a bad joint or something.

cable modem

Hello all, thanks for all of the hard work to get this site back up!<p>My question is: On my Road Runner cable modem at home, there are 3 green led's that all have to be on in order for the thing to work right. I have a cable coming into the room where I have a high performance 2 GHz 4Db splitter th...
