I have an escalator handrail SPEED ENCODER. It has a wheel that is held against the handrail and spins when the handrail moves (escalator running). It has 24 volt dc power fed to it through 2 wires one positive and one negative. Then there are 4 other wires that go to an input module. a+ ,a- and b+,...

connecting a 3 phase (480v ac) motor
If I have a 3 phase motor (480) volts ac, 25hp . With 12 wires hanging out of the connection head, and none of the wires are labeled. How do I hook it up correctly. I know this motor has six coils inside and I know the numbers that should be on the leads. I can figure out which wire ends make up one...

My television picture went out. I can hear the tv and I can change channels. I can even hear a DVD playing or a VHS tape playing, but no picture just a black screen. Comcast says everything looks normal from their end. Does this sound like maybe it might be an easy fix or is it time for a new TV. Th...

expensive ink!!
I have an HP printer that is about 10 years old. I just bought a new black ink and a new color ink cartridge. The "combo pack" cost $73.00. (900 pages of black and 530 pages of color) Is this price for this amount way out of line? If so, does anyone know of a QUALITY printer with less expe...

circuit board battery chargers???
I have circuit boards that are fed 120vac and are supposed to charge a 4.8vdc battery and also ring a 6vdc 1/2 amp bell. If the 120vac goes off the battery is supposed to supply power for the bell and emergency lighting (two small 6vdc bulbs). The problem is when the 120vac is there the battery term...

If I don't buy the inductive probe
I am working on an electric heater. It works on 480v/ac and has a cold resistance of 216 ohms. If I measure current draw using my FLUKE79 multimeter on the 10 amp scale by opening the circuit and putting the leads in series with the circuit, will the high voltage destroy the meter or blow the fuse O...

inductive current probes
I want to purchase an inductive current probe. Most of the wiring I will be checking is small, 18-12 gauge. most of the current readings will be lower than 50amps/ac. some as low as 145ma. SNAP-ON has a nice probe that will measure 10ma-60amps. I like that accuracy, and has a clamp that is small.(ma...

AC/DC ohms law
does OHMS LAW apply equally to dc circuits and ac circuits. (ex.) an electric heater with a resistance of 216 ohms in a 480v ac circuit. Is the current draw going to be 2.22 amps? and will the current draw go down as the heater gets hot?
