Pete,
Thank you for your reply. The small schematic on the body of the device kinda led me to believe that there wasa no external battery and that it was fed from an "Unswitched Source."
Your explanation clears up a lot in my head.
TNX again.

Flourescent emergency lights
Question - In the sanctuary of my church in a line-up of flourescent lights along the side walls - are a couple of tubes on each side that remain lit when the main circuit breaker is shut off. Investigating those tubes that remain lit I find what looks like a second ballast. It is about the same siz...

Guys - Thanks for your replies. My 'shopping list' was just a 'made-up' example of a small order. I do not need that specific list of items. For some small projects I do use Radio Shack (when they carry specific needs). My location is about 45 miles North of Tampa. My last construction item used 6 v...

Shipping and Handling
Hi All, I am a hobbyist. Sometimes I just need one or two 16 volt electrolytic caps - one or two resistors quarter watt - maybe two little transistors. All of the mail order places that I know want to charge me anywhere from 5 to 7 dollars for shipping and handling when the items weigh, at most, an ...

mosfet substitution question
Hi All,
A substitution question...
Should I be able to substitute an IRF529 power mosfet for an MTP3055 power mosfet ?
They are being used in a low voltage (12 V) & linear operation.
Thanks for any reply.

Passwords
Ladies and Gentlemen, I thought that I read somewhere that using a word from the English language as a password - that a hacker could 'break the code' in a matter of minutes. How about using a word from our language but spell it backwards and alternate lower case and caps ?? Such as: "TfArCrIa&...

O-scope waveforms
My 76 year old brain is deteriorating and I need help. What is the proper spelling of the name of the guy (not an American) after whom various displays from an oscilloscope are named ? It is something like "liss-a-juice". I can't find him in the American Heritage Dictionary. Thanks for any...

Hi -
Instead of parts/systems/etc. offered for sale...How about "WANTED" electronic/computer/ham items ? Or, would that be too much ?
