Crystal Oscillator Seems Slow

I'm working on a simple LED clock circuit, using a 32.768KHz crystal as a time base. The crystal is wired to a binary counter IC (4060 counter/divider), with a resistor in series with the crystal and two 22pF capacitors in parallel -- not sure how to explain correctly. From my understanding of the I...

Re: LED fading when driven by 4017

Sundancer87, what you said about LEDs is not true. The LED doesn't just go out when the current drops below a certain level. Just think about it. If you connect an LED in series with a potentiometer, the light will vary as you turn the pot. Perhaps there is a thresehold, but if there is, then it's v...

Re: How to Generate Sine Waves

Thanks for the help, guys!
Bodgy, you kind of lost me there... I have a lot to learn about electronics. I'll look into the ICL8038 you mentioned. I don't really understand the other stuff. And no, I didn't mean radio frequencies, just audible range. The link you provided looks really helpful.
De...

How to Generate Sine Waves

I'm sort of new to electronics, and I would like to know how to generate sine waves. Can I make a simple circuit using capacitors, transistors, etc. or are there inexpensive ICs that make sine waves?

Re: Neodymium Magnets

You're from ontario too! I got some neodynum magnets from a place called "Lee Valley". It's a woodworking/gardening tools store. They have a catalogue, and I think you might be able to order from them. I saw some ring magnets in there... And yes they are VERY powerful. Keep them away from electronic...
