denny and colin-- both of you were correctand i was wrong, in the reference to large leds i posted. i bought a recent issue of EPE mag, lo and behold there was an ad for those 10" displays!! mea culpa!! they indeed were described as solenoid driven. found out about the fairchild 4" display...

looking for 1 foot high led number displays. note: not one led a foot high! you know, like to use as a countdown display in seconds, for example. saw them in an overseas electronics mag. does anybody know an usa supplier? thanks.
