Re: cable tv service

Some 30 - 40 years back, you could get televisions that had cable tuners. Thus, you didn't need a Decoder Box. Yes, when cable was just standard modulation, but had more channels than broadcast TV. They (cable company) could also use frequencies between VHF TV and UHF TV because the signal was conf...

Re: cable tv service

Isn't everything scrambled so it can be unscrambled in the box? (even basic channels) And the cable company could disconnect the cable to your house from the splitter to prevent use of black market box to steal service.

Re: Send Sound Across Livingroom Wirelessly

Any wireless audio link will need AC power for the amplifier in the "wireless" speaker. If there is no AC outlet near the speaker you'll have to run an extension cord. IMO clear insulated speaker wire is easier to hide than an extension cord. Do not use speaker wire for AC, that's NOT SAFE...

Re: What's Your planned Project for 2024 ?

i know aboot leds. Apparently not. or maybe not using all 64 leds in my matrix threw things off ? If all were used at once you'd never see and letters or numbers. And the LED matrix would not have resistors unless the manufacture specifies drive voltage and duty cycle. A driver array IC may have bu...

Re: Greetings!

Broken rod and carburetor are unusual failures. On old ones, worn bottom shaft bush or weak spring leaf between carb and crank case made carb adjustments to "touchy" to adjust for running. Hitting a rock would bend crank more often than break a piston rod. 7-Dust left me confused for a cou...

Re: What's Your planned Project for 2024 ?

P.S. LED bulbs are a different beast than individual LEDs. 6V LED bulbs (for example) have built in resistors to control current in that bulb; different color bulbs of same voltage can be paralleled. 120VAC (240VAC in other countries) LED bulbs also have built in rectifier because LEDs are unipolar ...

... to cook the leds. Repeat 100 times. "LEDs are not light bulbs, they behave differently." {end of repeat phrase} LEDs need current control. Different colors have different characteristic voltage drops, and can not share limit resistors between colors. Even for same color serial is bett...

Re: USB C at 240 watts, how?

Surprise me!!! All USB-C cables must be able to carry a minimum of 3 A current (at 5 V, for 15 W) but some can carry 5 A current (at 20 V, for 100 W). (from Google) And, that would be minimum capability. Makes the "hand shake" when plugging in more complicated than 100mA or 500mA at 5V of ...

Re: Simple power supply, modular design

Been thinking ... could be an inductive kick with zero load on that big transformer. Try 1.5KΩ to 2.2KΩ, 1/2W or 1W resistor load on transformer secondary. (permanent) Rough calculation gives 3A primary current at 20A output load. A 4A slo blo fuse should NEVER blow unless there is another problem. ...
