Re: U2510B?

I have already used the data sheet from Amtel's site to troubleshoot the chip (ab initio) and found no response to v/ma measurements. As for "how?" I was using the power supply that came with the radio and suppose it tasted a power surge. When I did open the unit I shocked to find no fuse to protect...

Re: Anybody have experience with MFJ equipment?

Yes, I had considered RF shielding kind of subconsciously regardless of the circuit design. What would you suggest if I wanted to install a band selection range (toggle switch)? Do you think there is any greater level of sensitivity and accuracy if the meter is composed of seperate sub-circuits, or ...

U2510B?

I became the victim of bad circuit design, I cooked this IC (U2510B) about 2 years ago. It is the receiver and audio amp for a Baygen Free play radio. You would think that for a $150 radio (maybe $20 at a junk sale) they could put a fuse in the power supply. Anyone have experience with this chip or ...

Re: Anybody have experience with MFJ equipment?

Thanks for the input Ed! I just got involved in Amateur Radio about a year ago, and finally broke down and took technician class exam. I am a physicist by training, and have not fooled around with practical electronics for years. Your advice is greatly appreciated!!

Anybody have experience with MFJ equipment?

Rather that spend time trying to build one, I am making a decision to purchase a RF field strength meter. Does any one have experience with MFJ-801? <p>http://206.131.241.58/ubbcgi/ultimatebb ... wtopic&f=1

Re: 2.4 GHz vs. 900 MHz Phone Technology

I am certainly not a pro on any of the latest S-band technology. But looking at the fundamentals, Radiation acts more like light the higher the frequency (more directional and line-of-sight). Therefore you could be getting lots of RF reflection based on the immediate enviroment (your 10 acres).

RF field meter

Any one have some advice on building field strength meter? Perhaps a frequency range of 100MHz to 2.5 GHz.
