Re: DVD Trouble
DVD player trouble? That's why I buy the cheapest DVD player I can find. I have seen lots of sales in the $30 to $40 range. When your DVD player goes bonkers you throw it away and get a new one. They are not made to be repaired. Would you spend $30.00 on repair parts?

Re: Oscilloscope question
In order to use an oscilloscope to view the transmitter pulses, you need to make a detector which will consist of a single turn of wire about 1 inch in diameter. One side of the coil is "ground" which you connect the scope ground wire to. The other side of the coil goes to the anode of a g...

Re: DC-AC converter
I'll try to describe the circuit using NPN power transistors. Use a center tapped primary with the center tap connected to + DC supply. Connect the collector of each transistor to the other primary connections, one transistor to one primary wire. Connect the two emitters to the minus supply rail. No...

Re: DC-AC converter
You don't need a chip. All you need is two npn or PNP transistors hooked up to the primary of a transformer in a multivibrator configuration so that the circuit oscillates at about 60 Hertz as determined by the selection of the R and C values. The secondary of that transformer would then be AC. I ca...

Re: new way to make pcbs. Will it work??
If you are able to design a PC layout on a computer then it is very easy to make a PCB from that. What you need to do is print the layout on a translucent paper (one that allows light through). You need good black lines for the copper paths. Then you can buy from Circuit Specialists Inc., Mesa, AZ p...

Air purification can be accomplished by using negative ions. Check the April 2003 issue of Nuts and Volts for a neat construction article.

Re: no power = tun on
Suppose you have a normally closed relay contact with the relay coil operated by the solar panel voltage. When the solar panels are active the relay coil is energized, thus shutting off the fan. When the solar panels go dark the relay returns to its normally closed state, thus turning on the fan.
