How far away are the clocks and what are your budget constraints? It would be pretty cool to use something like the DPAC Technology embedded 802.11 modules to communicate between them, or one of the low cost serial RF links listed here at Spark Fun Electronics

Depends on the type of programming. If you are talking about computer languages in general I would highly recommend the python language (http://www.python.org) as the place to start. <p>If you're interested in embedded programming then you will probably want to learn 'C' first, but you will eventual...
