Re: wheelcair power supply

after looking all over the net I cant find a transformer anywhere that will handle this problem, and the idea of just keeping the batteries charged looks better and better. Thanks guys.

Re: wheelcair power supply

thanks for the input. I have a 240 volt 50 amp circuit for a welding machine and anyone have any ideas about where toget a 240 to 24 volt transformer that will handle this much current?

wheelcair power supply

I am working on a power chair robotics project and want to make a plug in power supply that would run 2 - 24 volt wheelchair motors as a test bed - so I can stop charging batteries all the time. The main circuit breaker in the power chair is 80 amps. does that mean I can get by with a 24 volt 80 amp...

which microcontroller

Anyone care to expound on the relative merits of pic microcontrollers vs atmega arduino series? I have a fair amount invested in $$ and time on pics, my friend is an arduino fan. I just want some ammunition when he gets in a huff about arduino's vs pics. Thanks

Re: electric wheelchair

Some of these wheelchairs have a seperate H Bridge unit, some have everything built into the joystick housing. If you have a seperate H bridge, you could use a PIC microcontroller to control it with PWM inputs. Perhaps you could make some sort of Segway like people mover, but most of these chairs wi...

The nicotene is still dngerous in terms of heart and peripheral vascular disease, but it may be an aid to quit smoking. At least if this catches on, we non smokers won't have to put up with the smoke .

Re: Liquidating My Electronics Hobby

Maybe you could package it up as "starter electronic kits" to sell on ebay, throw in a few circuit ideas/schematics. People would probably buy it. I would sell the books seperately or in small groups.

Re: motor starter capacitor

I would have liked to replace the motor with a 220 volt, but I don't want to spend the extra $$'s. I don't know what the usual capacitance ratings for motor starters are, but the one on the motor was a 400 uF. I bought one rated from 360-408 uF at a local electric supply store and the motor started ...

Re: Close packing of relays

I made a matrix of 12 volt auto relays 12 by 12 relays glued together side by side and hand wired for a fireworks control board. We fired the fireworks with a small coil of nichrome wire using 2 12 volt auto batteries in series. It was enough current to destroy the nichrome coils for each firework f...

motor starter capacitor

I have a 2 hp 1 phase 125vac motor for a dust collector, and it has a 125 vac 400 uF capacitor as a motor starter. Are motor start capacitors polarized? I want to hook this motor up and use it but the two wires are both black, so does it matter which wire is hooked to + or -?

cutouts

I've used the decal technique to use as a guide when cutting out aluminum panels. They work well but if you are using a an electric jigsaw you have to be careful or the plate of the saw will rub the decal off!

Hi, can you post more pics of the actual arm and put a yardstick or ruler in the picture for scale?
