Portable GPS on commercial flight
Hi all, Seems like I have seen this discussed here once. I'm taking a trip via commercial airliner, and would like to use my handheld GPS. It doesn't have an external antenna jack that I can find, and I am wondering if anyone has had any luck using one from the cabin during a flight. Mine doesn't al...

This is way out there - but I thought I would throw it in for you to consider. I like those temperature strips that give a visual indication of the level in the tank. I have NO IDEA how to use this method for your application, but maybe someone else, that is smarter can run with such an idea! Good l...

I've never done it myself, but have worked on boards that other people have done. Obviously you don't want to do any high frequency stuff, but it seems to be a practi...

I have a sample somewhere of a backlighting solution with LED's using fiber optics. A standard LED shines into a bundle of tiny fiber optic threads, which is then evenly dispersed by the woven fibers. Hard to explain, but the mfg. uses them in Fluke multimeter backlighting. We considered using somet...

Thanks for all of the advice! I got the sample in the mail and have since decided to go with a different part in a 4.4mm TSSOP. I can solder one of those!!! That BGA is SOOO tiny! I'm pretty steady handed, but no way could I dead-bug it and solder any wires to those miniature connections. Living and...

Thanks Hackles, (Whoops - Thanks to you too Robert) That is exactly the type of information I was seeking! I haven't done any other research yet. From past experience it seems best to get some hints from people like us, as I'm sure I'll have to sift through a ton of info when I start really looking ...
