Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

thanks for the info, went ahead and ordered earlier today - was hoping to get them sat since i chose priority but ordered a bit past the cut off times. ended up going w/ 50V 105C electroylytics and did a 50V 85C .1uF on accident. figured this is for prototyping so it will be ok. need to order a temp...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

would i be better off going w/ a different type of cap all together for the drop from 12->8V w/ the voltage regulator? or do you mean the caps that are rated for 105C? any suggestions, i am open to them all. if staying w/ Al, 25V? 50V? 100V? all 105C rated? as far as the arduino, i have looked into ...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

Any components wattage rating will have to be derated after a certain ambient temperature is reached. Wow-140 degrees ambient! That will take one huge heat sink to keep the regs internal junctions down even inspite of eating up some wattage with a preceding power resistor. If you want to scrub off ...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

thanks again for all the assistance. as far as heatsink vs 2-5W resistor, it really doesn't matter to me as i need to acquire either one which is no problem. is one version 'better' than the other? would the resistor have any issue if it is 140F ambient temps? should the voltage regulator have a hea...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

the 12V is what will be where the arduino is going as i am tapping off the 12V that is there for a different project. i really need to figure out exactly how much A i will be needing, the more research i am doing i may have overshot the A i initially stated and may only need 250mA. the wall-wart wil...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

Edit button should be in upper right of your own posts. For a given current and voltage drop. Either part will disipate the same heat. The one in the smaller physical package will have a higher temperature. thanks for the heat displacement explanation. as far as the edit button, i don't see any but...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

i just re-read my first post and see i noted 7805, it should be 7808, so yes, 8V. as far as current, i need to verify that 100% but i am thinking less than 500mA, but the one thing i do know that will be present is the the high heat, that is a guarantee. is my thought process correct in using this m...

Re: TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

thank you for your reply. appreciate it greatly. as far as distance from the wall wart i think it may be quite a distance. i have just been told that there will be 12V-13V present but i don't know where the source of the electricity is coming from. since the input does seem to make a large differenc...

TL750M08 - regulated power circuit...HELP

i have some TL750M08 that a buddy gave me and i need to take ~12V in from i am pretty sure is going to be a wall-wart to power and arduino. i am dropping the V to 8V because of the heat that this project will be exposed to and i didin't want the arduino 5V regulator to overheat. can the TL750M08 be ...

PCB Oz rating and A capacity?

hello. i build and fly multi-rotor radio controlled copters. currently have been flying the 4 rotor versions and when building a power distribution pcb, a friend and i came up w/ a design and we milled it out. total size is less than 2" x 2" w/ trace cutouts as we are just using 1 side of ...
