Contributors, Thanks for your input. Your ideas gave me some good leads to follow. I checked out a site on the many uses of the 555IC and looks like the way to go utilizing the one shot application. It may be a few weeks until I get back to the project. Time to get the garden in. Thanks again. John

I believe that the signal identification is indeed one of the problems. At the docking station I have identified the voltage to be at 5 volts then being pulled low momentarily .
