Thanks everyone for the replies! Sorry, I should have clarified further at the beginning. The speakers are Altec Lansing ACS295. They have a built in toroid transformer. The transformer is always powered on and the hum is the same wheather the speakers are in standby or powered on. I cannot tell if ...

Humming Toroid Transformer
Hello, I have an older set of Altec Lansing computer speakers from an old Dell. They haven't been used in a long time (about a year) and I hooked them up recently to my computer to replace a dying set of Boston's. They function perfectly, they sound fine and everything, but there is a noticeable hum...

Google nor any other search engine should be able to get in. They do not have the username and password, so the worst they could do is figure out that thee is a folder named /Admin, but not get in. Plus, there is no link to the admin folder on any page, so I don't even think any search engine crawle...

PHP Upload script
I'm trying to allow uploads to my server through PHP. I know it's possible and I've found many scripts on the internet, however they are far too complicated for me especially since I do not need all the features they include like file type checking, size limits, etc. You can only upload to my server...

Dell is the second worst PC you could possibl buy. HP/Compaq are number 1 in the list of lowest quality, followed by Dell. Dell is one of those terrible companies that used to let themselves get paid off by Intel to not use AMD chips. As you can see the scam was exposed and now they're using AMD in ...

If you're lucky enough to have a Frys nearby, you never even have to step into a RadioShack. The closest to my house unfortunately is 45 minutes - 1 hour away, so only if I really need something I buy it at RadioShack. If I can wait until I'm at Frys, I write it down on a list and pick it up when I ...

Well I'm sticking to blaming this on Dell. Why? Two reasons. First, It's a Dell. Dell isn't known for high QC. There actually not known for too much besides low cost budget systems, and high cost budget systems in a fancier looking case. Unless we count in their excellent technical support... Second...

Looking for some things
I'm looking for a few things right now. I know this forum is mostly for selling, but I hope it's OK that I'm asking for things I need here as well. What I could use are the following electronic parts: -toroid transformers, something between 20-0-20 and 25-0-25 at 200+ VA or around there. The best I'...

jwax, thats so funny!! I'm building the exact same thing!!! A friend of mine has one and it's got to be one of the most amazing things I've seen. My friends potato gun has the old kind from a grill where you push and it sparks once it makes the click. It's fully mechanical, no electronic. Here's wha...

Opening iomega Zip CD case
I have an iomega Zip CD-RW drive. It's nothing special, just a 4x burner, so I have no plans to use it as a burner as the computer already has a 48x burner. I just want an additional drive and the system only has space for the single drive. Anyway, the eject button is broken and the switch seems to ...

Thanks for all the replies. First, I'm not questioning the advice, but out of curiosity, why does putting your opposite hand in your back pocket matter? Second, JPKNHTP, I don't know if you got my last message, but would it be possible to work one of those flybacks into our trade? I don't know how m...
