Inductance/Capacitance

I think a fairly good mechanical analogy is a centrifugal compressor going into surge. If you have a long pipe on ther discharge and the flow gets throttled to the point it is close to 'the hump' on the head/flow characteristic then the compressor will probanbly go into surge. For a period the gas i...

Sorry Guys ! - In the third line after 'bettery' it should say 'charger' i.e the battery charger was crude, not the battery.

Battery Chargers

Some years ago I made a Battery charger control for the wheelchair of an old lady who lived in the same village. Her wheelchair battery was fairly crude in that it furnished a fairly high open circuit voltage to produce a high charge rate so that the battery could charge quickly when required. The p...

Micro-computers

OK - this is my version - I have no way of knowing whether it is less or more accurate than the others - but it is more complete. About 1960/70 three PhDs' Gordon, Moore & Noyce left Fairchild or to go work for Brattain ? They couldn't stand that so they set up their own Co. (Intel) specifically...

This is a big project - I went through this about twenty years ago - planned it all out but never built it. Just about when I got ready to solder some parts the 6402 cam out so I switched to that. If I were you, in order not to get too depressed through not seeing intermediate results - I would star...

The Wattage was OK Nine Degrees F = 5 Deg C so heat required = 5 *200 = 1000 calories = 4186.8 joules/Watt.seconds = 4186.8/3600 = 1.163 Watt.hour- Hope I got that right !

Mr Al, Of course you are right ! - I was doing the calculations on an Excel spreadsheet and I entered the internal resistance of the battery as 276 Ohms and not 2.76. Must be either old age creeping up on me or excessive Independance Day libations. As Robert Burns the famed Scots bard once said &quo...

This is very interesting but I'm not certain it isn't a little over my head because I get a completely different read of the Panasonic data sheet. On the graph which showed battery life against load resistance it shows voltage curves of 5.4 to 7.2 volts - I don't really understand where these are de...

Hi Harrogate, Your idea seems fairly good but, if you were going to use this for process control you would presumably be doing it with some sort of relatively sophisticated computing device (A PC ?) in which case you can buy (Here, but perhaps not in the wilds of Wannee in Bradford - I'm a Geordie !...
