Follow The Flashlight Evolution - Can't get it to work

I've bought a few LED flashlight boards and boards and kits and have yet to get one to work.

If I can ever get one to work I'd like to program it for 12 volts to use with 9 LEDs.

I noticed that the coil got quite hot but the leds didn't light.

Can anyone help?
