I notice that most of the CCD cameras have resolutions in the 640-480 range. I'm helping a friend with a project that really needs something in at least the SVGA range. Anyone aware of a digital video camera with better resolution ? Thanks

There are tons of scientific cameras with higher speeds, resolutions, light levels, etc,.... but all of them are more expensive.

The computer interfaces alone can run up a huge bill.

640 x 480 = 307,200 pixels x3 = 921,600 color pixels. = <1Mpix
It is very hard to find a digital camera with such low resolution these days.
Any digital camera in the market that doubles as web camera will have the much, much higher resolution you are looking for.

Just find one that features being useable as web camera besides movie, etc.

Here's one (although it's CMOS) made for a microscope- you have to add your own optics for other uses.
