i need 2 transistors.

Post by dacflyer »

i need 2 transistors, new or used.. on-line ordering is costing more than the parts.
does anyone have these parts that i could buy from them ?
i need for a amplifier i am repairing.
2SA1215
2SC2921
same as NTE33 & NTE34
or ECG33 & ECG34

parts were listing as 4.00 each, but S/H would cost me 12.00

I looked in my work stash and no luck but I have a collection of old SK (RCA) transistors and never got a chance to cross to a SK number. Maybe tomorrow.

Did a quick Google - The 3 listed as sellers that have it are:

http://www.newark.com/ $5.58 (2SA) & $5.99 (2SC)
http://www.vctechnologyinc.com/ $5.00 (2SA) & $2.00 (2SC)
http://www.bdent.com/ $6.50 (2SA) & $6.53 (2SC)

Didn't check on shipping.

i have no problem to find the part, its the killer shipping and handling that cost more than the parts.

That's life in the slow lane. Maybe you can buy something else you need at the same time.

These parts are 160V Vceo and 5A Ic. Maybe you can search for some subs based on the specs and list those. Anything with similar Vceo and higher Ic might work just as well. Can I assume these are used in a push pull output section

Hi,

The package type is very strange though...dont know if he wants to mod the physical too or not...

I looked in my old SK bins today without luck. I couldn't even find a SK cross. Yeah, you mention a strange package, is it sort of round?

They're actually pretty large units with different sizes listed. Data sheets below:

http://www.ampslab.com/PDF/2sa1215.pdf
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datashe ... SA1215.pdf

http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datashe ... SC2921.pdf
http://tvmodule.com/shop/SemiConductor- ... p1291.html

The 2SC2921 didn't have a sheet at ampslab, so I found a picture of it at tvmodule.com.
Looks to be the same size.

Oh, I did a quick check for shipping at tvmodule (both trans are listed at $6.75) and
Fedex will ship ground to the Big Apple for approx. $8.5 . No idea where you are.

Oops, did I say 5A=Ic I meant 15A and its a 150W package. I looked at several datasheets and it comes in either a MT-200 package (like a really wide body oversize TO-220) or a TO-247 which looks like a TO-220 but twice the size.

If any of you are looking at TO-220 packages, it aint them. These are big guys. I know I don't have anything in that package. don't even need to look at part numbers.

One might occasionally find the NPN one (or a similar package at least) lurking in the horizontal circuit of a larger tube CRT TV set but not the PNP one. I've used 1 ohm resistors in this package but never a transistor.

It must be mounted on a meaty heatsink. Geeze how many watts is this amp 1500W? into 8 ohms (P=I squared R = 15*15*8=1800 derated a bit to 1500). When your done, let volter try it out on his neighbor he can play jet takeoff sounds at actual volume :)

Don't forget to buy a silicone or mica insulator for that package size and some heatsink greese if you don't already have some. I'm sure you can find some other goody to buy to mitigate the shipping cost. Maybe a high output LED and driver. At $4 a pop, might as well get a pair of spares
