Some years ago, there was an article called, "Master Magnet", by Leonard Crow.
It was instructions on how to build a magnet, powered by 120 VAC, that could pick up Non-Ferrous metals like copper and aluminum.

Has anybody tried building such a magnet? The theory is there, but would like to hear from anybody that actually built one.

Thanks, John for bringing back memories of that article on how to make an electromagnet that attracts aluminium. I remember used washers... Sorry, I did not build it as saw no application; just as a curiosity item.

Nope- not in N & V that I've seen.
What I haven't seen demonstrated is one more polarity reversal beyond levitation- and that causes the attraction. It's clever looking as to how Leonerd arranged that in his Master Magnet, just would like to see it work before building it.
Anyone want to explain the 10 pounds, levitating or not in this video:
