Neither could be called "better", but you'll find higher output per square foot with crystalline. Higher price too. "Polycrystaline" is another variety of silicon cells. Less output than monocrystal, but cheaper.
Big question is, do you want to buy finished moules, or individual solar cells, and make your own modules?
Finished modules cost $5+/watt, but you can buy 125mm cells, wire your own, and spend under $3/watt.
If you have a lot of area, you may as well go with the cheaper, less efficient cells. Same watts.
One word of caution for building your own- sealing a module for 20+ years outside is challenging! Takes more than a coating of RTV!
Modules come with a pretty solid guarantee.

thanks , i spent 2 hrs searching thru e-bay, someone has a large ammount of panels for sale..
name brand - (photowatt) PW1000 - 100 watt moduals
hes got 70 of them and wanting to sell it as a package, but he said he is willing to sell some individually, i am interested in maybe 5 of them.

if anyone might be interested in also buying some panels , just ask.
holidays are around the corner, so he might be willing to wheel and deal..
heres the ad link....

also someone else had a lot of them also.. i think they were 85 watt panels for less than $2.00 a watt for 36 panels!... if i had 6 grand i could have them they are good brand also (BP SOLAR) ...Grrrrr

if someone was willing this auction could be split up..

I'm curious to see what those 36 BP Solar panels go for-
Doesn't sound like he's selling any partials there.
Shipping cost is not insignificant too.
That other sale in Calif looks odd. Xantrex makes invertors/power conditioning, not solar panels. Newbie to ebay too with zero sales.
Wonder where he came up with all those panels.
A major concern with used modules are the age. Most sealants deteriorate with age, so older ones are at risk of eminent decay/corrosion/death.
Caveat emptor!

WOW! Over $9300! For 3060 watts. Go figure. Plus shipping 700 lbs.

be carefull on ebay. I bought some panels from someone in Germany using Ebay. Checked his feedback, everything glowing! Sent money, (did not use paypal) Never got panels. By the time I filed a complaint with Ebay they said the time had expired and they were absolutely no help! Paypal only protects you to $2000.00

zotdoc- I hope that claim is still open! No way should you be out cash!
There has to have been an investigation by ebay. If word of losses like yours gets out, everybody would be shying away from ebay. I'd never stop fighting with them for an explanation.
