Solar Eclipse. Have your room reserved yet?

I liked the article in Nuts/Volts about the coming solar eclipse (just five days away). I wonder how many people are going to travel to the total-eclipse zone for a view?

Hello neighbor! You'll have slightly better seats than us, here in Cary, NC. I'll probably have to turn the (ham) radio on when Monday comes around, given what the article mentioned about sky-wave propagation.

I waited, video camera on the tripod with filters at the ready. Recording software streaming away with the sun front and centered.
Then arrived the heavy overcast; it got a little dark, several times; but I could not tell the eclipse from the cloud cover.
Bah Humbug!

Sorry to read about your clouds. Here, it started to cloud up, and I thought I was going to miss the hoopla. I didn't have a filter anyway, but I did get video of the pinhole camera shadows made on the porch deck by the leaves (we're drowning in trees here). IMO - those were about as interesting as the pics I saw online that were taken with cameras pointed directly at the sun.
