Questions regarding RPi temperature monitor source code

Post by Tzodiak »

Hello,

I was perusing the May 2013 issue of Nuts and Volts magazine online and encountered the "Raspberry Pi Remote Temperature Monitor" project. I am interested in trying this out, but I have very little experience with Python. Reading through the article instructions, I noticed that some of the code was missing. The article kept referring to a link where one could find the full source code. I followed the (presumably correct) link, but encountered a blank page.

I'm wondering where or how I could find the full source code for the project?

I'd be very grateful if anybody could post it here or guide me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance!

Alternatively, has anybody completed this project? If so, could you tell me how to implement the Google docs data logging feature in the main code? Through a bit of trial and error, I managed to get most of the functions working individually, but I'd like to run them all with one command (or even better, automation), but I'm grasping in the dark with Python and I don't dare to mess with my code too much in case I inadvertently break something.

I had the same problem, but found the link was wrong. You just need to drop the B from BKibalo.

I also am interested in the project and can't figure out which Maxim18B20 he refers to:\

1.) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008HODWBU/ref ... I95GVPJMCP

2.) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HKJCEH6/ref ... DF61AX7TY2

I want to put a sensor in my frige and freezer that people sometimes leave open.

Hi!

Thanks for the correct link, it should be useful for later reference, even though I eventually managed to get my code working on my own (in the messiest way possible). At least I learned a bit about Python on the way. ;)

The Maxim18B20 sensor I used in my project is the one in the second link. I hope that works for you. :)

Good luck with your project!
