Tina Datacom answering machine troubleshooting

Post by cr4west »

I like my Tina digital answering machine but it has developed a problem.
Seems the manufacturer, Datacom, has vanished including their web site. Has anyone had experience with troubleshooting this device? An even more lofty thought would be a schematic and test point chart.
The problem centers around the caller ID function using the MT8843AS chip. Pin voltages seem normal according to the tech sheet but it does not trigger the external 12vdc relay between rings to capture the caller data.
Now looking at the transistors that control the relay (surface mount.. yeech!)
Any ideas and encouragement would be appreciated!
"now using pencil, paper and magnifying glass"
