High AMP Conversion

Post by bdickens »

I need to provide about 20AMPS of power @ 9-12 volts. All the voltage regulators I see stop at a max of 5 amps. <p>Are there components rated for 20 or do I have to choose a different direction ?

If you enough voltage available, you can use the voltage regulator to drive the base of a high power transistor, like the MJ11016, 30 amps max, 200 watts, RadioShack.com part number 900-5260.
