Whats the deal with HD radio

I guess HD radio is still around but you hardly ever hear much about it. Is this technology really worth it? Why are the tuners so expensive? I could get 2-3 years of SiriusXM (and tuner) for the cost of an HD radio tuner. Does anyone have this and is it worth the cost considering that one can stream internet stations over Bluetooth in many situations.

(my cheapo head unit does not have the sensitivity to carry one FM station from home to work, I'm considering solutions or replacement options)

europe had HD radio several years before the states had it,,
i was amazed that the station info , current song etc, was scrolling across the screen. and other information..

i have only seen it here and there in a car or 2..
i agree that Satellite Radio is much better,, and if you have docking stations, you can take the radio from car to house, or office, or other vehicle.. providing the antenna gets a signal..
i have the antennas placed out the house, and or the office window.
