Battery powered mower issue Solaris Brand.

Post by dacflyer »

hi all i have a battery mower ( Solaris brand made by Linamar consumer products ) the mower runs great most of the time, but every once in a while you will hear it speed surge as if it was speed compensating for load, but it will do this even when standing still, and at times it will shut down, and i'd have to restart it..
it has a brushless motor on it.. pancake style maybe 2" tall with a 3/4" shaft, beefy looking the motor has a model number of M13 on it. there is very very little on the net about it. and the company stopped making it a few years ago.
wish i could find more of these mowers, they are neat..i can cut 3/4 of my yard before a recharge..and i have 1/3 acre.

anyone familiar with these motors ? runs on 24volts.

Monitor the drive to the motor, and see if the drive signal is varying?

impossible to do with unit disassembled, drive board is under the windings, and mag wheel is over all that.. only way to get to it is to take motor apart..
but i think i may have found the problem, the cable that goes from the handle control to motor may have had a bad connection,, since i fiddled with it, it has not acted up since... i have also installed the 10 watt led light on mower now,, it works great.. will have to show pictures of it later on...
10 watt led is nice and bright when it has the proper driver on it..

will have to get right 120AC version for the other one later on. i am not sure if i want to keep it 120vac or convert it also to dc for another project.
