LEDs dying? Too much current and/or area where they are installed gets too hot.

Flashlights? Nah, you need lots more power. Have a spare Klieg laying around? Think of the contrast you'd get (or is that just the afterimage??).

Now that's a name I haven't heard for years!
I remember the arc carbons, their 3 mile wide RFI splatter, and the cranky motor gizmo's that kept the carbons at the right arc distance.
Just maybe, under a pile of par cans, gels, old footlights, scrims, elipsoids, follow spots and fresnels, one may show up again someday along with a roll of dried out gaffer's tape
