Okay,
I know I'm an old fart.
But I'm having trouble understanding these new abbreviations that all these different Mother Board Companies are using.
I'm trying too make up a Parallel Port Cable for a MSI K9N2GM Mother Board that has this header on it.
Only I don't know what some of these abbreviations are.
I've already went to Wikipedia, but that didn't cover all the abbreviations either.
I've looked online and found many cables.
But no information as too what Mother Boards they fit.
So I'm appealing to you guys for help.
The Header Connector is 26pin with Key{No pin} that is wired to a DB-25 Pin Female Socket.
A wiring diagram would be great.
Otherwise an explanation of each of the abbreviated terms would be helpful.
Thanks.

It sure looks like the header is laid out the same as the DB25 parallel port

Re: MSI Mother Board K9N2GM; ECP Parallel Port Header......
Thanks for the info guys.
But it has done me little good, I'm afraid too say.
Here,
look at the 26 Pin Header, and DB-25 Connector.
The abbreviations that are giving me a headache are.
26 Pin Header
Pins:
1 RSTB
6 PINIT
8 LPT SLIN
Also,
DB-25 Pin Connector
Pin:
1 STROBE

Re: MSI Mother Board K9N2GM; ECP Parallel Port Header......
Renumber the header pins.
Right side bottom to top 1 to 13
Left side bottom to top 14 to 24
Match the numbers to the DB-25 and it will probably work fine.
In the past not all the signals were in common use but that was the standard!
With a ribbon cable it would break out nicely.

Re: MSI Mother Board K9N2GM; ECP Parallel Port Header......
Okay,
I did more web digging, and came up with a wiring diagram.
http://www.pccables.com/07124.html
Lenp,
Your right.
When I changed the numbering around on the header,
the pins match the DB-25 connector.
Also,
I now know what these mean.
RSTB = STROBE
PINIT = Initialize Printer or RESET
LPT SLIN = Select Input or Select Printer
Now that I have the diagram........
It's off too the Surplus place, or maybe the Electronic Recyclers.
Yes, you can find the ribbon cable and parts, or completely assembled Parallel Port cable on the net.
But if I can find one local, it will save me the cost of having it shipped.
Thanks guys.

Re: MSI Mother Board K9N2GM; ECP Parallel Port Header......
UPDATE:
After coming up with no cable at the local E-Cycling Center.
The guy there offered me a PCI Parallel Port Card for $5.
So, I decided to give it a go.
After finding out who was the manufacturer.
Lava Computers.
And finding drivers for it.
I spent a week of scratching my head as to why it wasn't working.
Well......
I had to drop my brother back off at his apartment in the cities.
And he was only a few blocks away from the old Axeman Surplus Store.
Thus, I decided to take a look.
In a bin full of computer ribbon cables.
I found the exact cable I needed, and only .95 cents.
I got it home, and checked the wiring.
It was wired right too!
I plugged into the motherboard, setup the LPT 1 Port in the BIO's.
Let Windows 7 detect it, and it worked perfectly the first time!
Three cheers for Axeman Surplus!
