Would this work as a simple linear level meter ?

Post by Externet »

Have not tried it yet. :???:

Code: Select all

(+)----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.----|>|----.---
       |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |
       L           L           L           L           L           L           L           L           L           L
       |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |
       R           R           R           R           R           R           R           R           R           R
       |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |           |
(-)----.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.-----------.---

--|>|-- = Si diode
   L    = LED
   R    = resistor
The leftmost resistor set to maximum led current for maximum expected voltage at (+)
A varying voltage at the left terminals will increase the brightness of each led and will step to turn on the next for every 0.6V increment. Would it ?
Seems it would work from a minimum of 2V ; diodes with less dropout would expand the scale...
