Burning a CD with DOS boot diskette files ?

Hi.
The first diskette on a set of DOS installation files (-Say DOS 6.2-) , when initializing a compfuser, it boots and allows either to install DOS or exit and be able to choose DOS commands or to look into other files and directories in other drives.

If all files in such DOS diskette 1 of the set are burned into a CD, would the CD behave the same at power up, booting the machine ?

I noticed the extensions of the files in the DOS boot diskette directory are truncated, like need to be installed? in order to be executables. Is that right ? How does that work?

burning the files directly to a cd wont work because there is the bootable stuff in the disk which enables it to boot off of the disk. to do what you was wanting to do, get a program like poweriso or ultraiso and they have an option to create an image of the disk, just create the image and go into the cdrom image options, and you'll see where there is a bootable option, and where you can select the boot image. select the image of your floppy disk that you made and it'll allow you to create a cd that'll boot up using the dos 6.2 as if it was booting from the floppy disk itself. it emulates a floppy disk when starting up and start up just like it does with the floppy disk.
Ive used this method a few times for creating windows 3.1/95 disks years ago.
I usually just grab the disk images with cdrom drivers and such from bootdisk.com rather than fighting with the floppy disks, but if you have custom disks that have software in it that you rather have, you can use the method of creating your own images.
