HP1650a Logic Analyzer Floppy Modification

Has anyone ever worked on a HP1650 analyzer before? I have one that I purchased a few years ago. Although I have no problems with it now, I foresee that one day the floppy drive will go the way of the dodo bird. :sad:

I found this on the web. Has anyone ever tried to replace an old floppy drive with an interface that will allow it to use say a USB drive?
Has anyone ever tried to do this before?
