getting no where with pickit3

ok if you could buy just one book (or website) that could help you just flash one led on and off
where would you start?

You have the PicKit 3 and a board (which board?). You have either a compiler or assembler (assembler comes with MPLAB - you DO have MPLAB, don't you?).

If you got a board in a bundle with the PicKit 3, there are probably some samples around somewhere.

What device are you using (the PIC itself)?

If you answer some of those questions, I will talk you through and get you up and running.

hey buddy
i have an icsp14 adapter from www.j1sys.com that i got on ebay
and yes the pickit3 came with mplab ide v8.46
the chip i am using is a 12f683

Sorry for the slow response - I am bogged down with homework :(

Anyway, you should be able to find asm code that will blink an LED for the part you have. Have you been in MPLAB and set the programmer to PicKit3 and see the device connected? If you set the programmer to PicKit3 (in MPLAB), it will look to see what device, if any, is connected to the PicKit3. Does the device show up?

What is the exact problem you are having?

i got the pickit3 talking to the 12f683

just trying to get a handle on the asymble langauge

i would love it if i could just flash an led or two...

im not sure how to make the pins out puts and how to tell them high and low for x amount of time

ps hows school going?
