Symantec activity... How to tell ?

Post by Externet »

Hi all.
Often my XP compfuser becomes nasty, to later find out that Norton was doing its job and slowing everything.

Is there a way to tell when it is working ? Any flashing icon ? Any superimposed message telling Norton started to work ?

I found nothing in 'settings'. Suggestions please ?

My last encounter with Norton was years ago so I can't comment on whether there is or isn't some visual indicator to it's activities. As perhaps a last resort you could open the settings dialog and check if/when automatic scans are scheduled. You could then anticipate the inevitable slowdown.

I switched to Microsoft's Security Essentials: Free. Fast. I hope it's thorough.
