That sounds like you need an old mono-chrome monitor, or CGA Monitor.

But since VGA monitor's are in great abundance.
You should get a CGA-to-VGA adapter.
Here's one store that carries it.

You can check other places like Jameco, or Egghead for this adapter.
Or maybe one of your local computer dealers has these.

Intersting problem. In the early days of small/personal computers
IBM standards were adopted and then hacked as others entered
the market.

While there are adapter cable assemblies with 9 pin and 15 pin
'D' connectors, care is needed with scan rates and sync polarity.
Early monitors were closely related to TV sets, while later ones
for computers used higher scan rates.

I'd just buy a cable and try it out with monitors you can find
on the surplus market, hoping to hit a combination you can
use without having to fiddle with internal circuitry.

Here's the industry definitions of both the 9pin and 15pin
video ports from around the mid-1980s:

VGA=Video Graphics adapter or Video Graphics Array. Videotype: Analogue.

Code: Select all

Pin Name Description
1 RED Red Video
2 GREEN Green Video
3 BLUE Blue Video
4 HSYNC Hor Sync
5 VSYNC Ver Sync
6 RGND Red Ground
7 GGND Green Ground
8 BGND Blue Ground
9 SGND Sync Ground

How can I connect the 2 phono feeds from my Xbox 360 to my headphones using the VGA connection? I have connected my Xbox 360 to my PC monitor using the official VGA cable. Unfortunately, the monitor does not have built in speakers or an audio in line, so I can't get any music.

THIS LINK will get you to where you can see the pinout of your X Box. Note where the audio is. That may help you. Overall the entire project looks to be a solution for you.

For future refrence, sometimes it is best to start a new thread with a question rather than resurect an old thread with a new question.

Will absolutely not work without "having to buy something", sorry.
