PWM controllers

Post by Bern »

I need PWM control for a motor, (up to 36V, 65A) continuous use. I want to use an analog signal for control, very basic with no ramp ups, down, direction control, etc. -- I planned on building it myself, however I now understand there are commercial ones available at very reasonable pricing. Looking for ideas and suggestions. Thanks!

hummm.. why dont you get your self a little MSP430 (by choice) that has a ADC built into it. On the MSP430 you will also have a port that you can output a PWM... now that PWM will only be 3.3V with little current.. that doesn't matter. You can get yourself some MOSFETS to drive the motor.. I have some examples on my site if you need more help. http://www.sambuchi.net/
Good luck

You can build your own PWM control using a 555 chip that inputs a voltage level and outputs a modulated pulse dependent upon the input voltage. Look in the manufacturer's fact sheets for this application or just Goggle around.
