How to power a POV project

Hello All,
My next project is a 3D Globe and I'm considering options for powering the rotating PCB.
I would like to use some sort of rotary transformer to couple AC to the rotating PCB.
This would be the best option as I can also power the PCB with out it turning for development, as opposed to using the turning PCB to generate the power.
I have looked into the idea of using a AC type computer box fan, taking the core out and replacing with a secondary coil.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to do this? Searches on YouTube have not provided any real help.

How much current do you need? Would these work for you? You can find the inductive part in a larger diameter which might make passing a motorized shaft through the center with globe on top possible.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't figured the current let. There will be 32 RGB LEDs plus 8 Red LEDs, not all on all the time of course, plus the PIC to control the thing.
I was hoping to input 117VAC into the input and then use switching supply for output that would reside on the globe PCB.

Where would I find more information on the device in the picture?
