My first job out of college was repairing Apple II computers, every chip was socketed for component level replacement. I bought a Commodore VIC-20 when they came out, learned Basic on that. Then I took the three Heathkit courses in microprocessors using the 6800 and 68000 in machine language. Then the PIC chips came along, and now I'm learning C with the Arm7 processor.
When I was at Penn State the Fortran classes used punch card machines, and the mainframe computer had tubes in the processor. They used to bill by the microsecond of use, since the tubes had a finite life, and were expensive to replace.
I would like to see some ideas for a wifi based system with some wireless sensors, kind of like a modern version of the old home control system that Circuit Cellar had back in the 'nineties.

Thanks,

Jerry
