Robotic Rovers

Near space is the poorman's space program. It permits you to fly experiments into a space like environment for a faction of the cost of a satellite launch. This forum is where Nuts and Volts readers can share information and data from near space missions - both past flights and those under preparation.

Robotic Rovers

Post by Paul Verhage » Mon Nov 07, 2011 7:37 am

Along with using near space to fulfill my outer space desires, I also make robots. One type I really like are rovers, smart robots that take orders to explore from a command center. My latest design has an articulated body for going over uneven terrain and steerable wheels to do away with skid steering. So far, only the body has been made and tested. After completing additional work on my dissertation, I plan to add the camera and sensor suite to the robot. You can see a demonstration video of the body in action on my YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/nearsys.

I'll write an article for Servo magazine once I get a bit further on the rover.

Onwards and Upwards,
your near sapce guide
