Re: How does drill variable speed work?
At the risk of being accused of being a complete, undeucated moron, I would venture to say that the comparison to a truck going up a hill is wrong. Once the heavier disk is up to speed, it shouldn't take extra energy to keep it there, assuming aerodynamic drag is the same as the lighter disk. But I ...

Re: Electronic Component Store ?
Edd, I work in Seattle and Kent often (in fact I was in Seattle this afternoon). Next time I'm up that way i'll see if the Boeing Surplus store is still going. I remember the guy who bought a 727 flap motor and used it to power his scale RC tugboat, that could pull a fully loaded ski boat with ease....

Re: Battery replacement
I think you will find that an overnight charger designed for C10 rate will work fine on an NIMH pack of the same capacity. NIMH cells are not very tolerant of rapid charging unless the circuit is designed for this. I recommend doing some reading on the cell manufacturer's websites or alternatively, ...

Re: "Perfect" LED current limiting challenge
So if I understand correctly, during the high single pulse of the Led the current is too fast to saturate the material, and causes a “skin” effect that causes a momentarily created a plasma state, which further causes a resonance in the water molecules of the elecrolizer, producing 10 MEGS of electr...

Re: Audio interface and mixer for camcorder
I can tell you how I did it years ago while shooting some video (Betamax even) in the back of a USCG HH3-F helicopter. I simply put a small mic into my headset and plugged it into the the camcorder. That way I got all the audio from the radios and IC. Capturing some of the ambient noise was not a pr...

I have tried to imagine all the forces the sensor would be affected by, and it makes my head hurt. Maybe i could use a small pitot tube and a pressure sensor like a MAP sensor from a car....

OK, I have to ask... take a control line type airplane, which flies in a circle around the operator...can an excelerometer tell when it is in level flight, vertical going up, inverted, or vertical going down? Could it be slaved through a uP to control throttle to keep a constant speed through all th...

Re: KJR Seattle, Channel 95.......
Jolly Roger, I did exactly the same with a crystal set. Mine was a clear plastic sphere which contained the diode and was tuned by a rod that went in and out of the antenna coil. I learned at an early age that by hooking the lead to the finger stock on a rotary dial phone I got a much better signal....
