I think you mean varistor, AKA MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor).
A varactor is a diode whose capacitance is adjustable by applied DC. Used in radio receivers.

Re: Wall plug electrical pop noise from switch, motor, fridge, etc...
How can you tell if it's in the 120VAC wires or is it RF in the air? The noise is unlikely to come on AC lines and get through the amplifier's power supply. So RF through the air. BUT , the AC lines are a transmit antenna. The audio connecting cables (if any) and circuits in the amplifier are the r...

Re: [HELP] - Explorer.exe Class Not Registered
If it was at Windows boot, someone else would have to help.
If explorer.exe is referring to Internet Explorer the app will have to updated to call Microsoft Edge instead.
Your next post was while I was composing. The explorerframe thing sounds reasonable but I do not know.

When are you getting that error? At boot time or starting an app? (for example)

"The ones i've fiddled with, didn't hardly have anything in them,, a 4 legged transistor looking chip, and a resistor,,could possibly be a resistor looking coil." Exactly! Boost circuit.

Re: Battery Bank won't replace a plain old battery
could be some newer chemistry.there are actually Blue and white leds that will work well with 3v.
I'd bet built in boost regulator.chinese led garden lights, the leds will operate from a 1.2v Nicad battery.
Higher voltages would still mean lamp/bulb with built in current regulation.

Re: Battery Bank won't replace a plain old battery
Yeap. Checked Uxcell, they call them "lamps". Their LED lamps have built in current limiting. A red LED itself has a forward voltage of around 1.8V The voltage is set by the chemistry used to make a particular color LED. Higher power LEDs will have a larger max current, but same voltage. G...

Re: Battery Bank won't replace a plain old battery
5V LED?? Blues and whites are 3.8V Other colors lower forward voltage. ("raw" LEDS) Maybe an LED bulb with LED and regulator in one package. USB power is not just voltage on two wires. The host and device negotiate the current needed. The blinking is the power IC in the "bank" ch...

Re: Digital Multimeter Ribbon Cable Connection
Would not be any solder for "black" trace connection to gold pads. Connection is by pressure. The 3 black spots are where the pressure plate broke off, or the plate is out of view on the back side. (but then why gold pads on this side?) Or they are screw holes for LCD bezel (to the left), ...

Scrap it! From video you linked it looks like a Benny Hill prop. A 100 year old man with one leg gets away by walking while police chase him using those things. Junk brand new.
