That setup doesn't sound correct to me, mind you I'm in 230v 50Hz country. The two phases would surely need to be in series, exactly the way I'd wire a mains transformer primary. So you should have --------- Ph 110 --------------- 240 L Appliance Brown --------- ret 110 | connect these two together ...

Wouldn't it be VLF that needs to be used, or am I thinking of caving?

Hi Pino, Looks interesting, problem is it won't load the 16F877a samples, and when I try and scroll the window or compile - it crashes with a windows fault. Is this a licence problem? Pino, just done some checking, I wonder if you've missed out a file in the installer? The error is caused by 'MultiB...

One thing that must be covered - Make sure there is no way for the auxilary load to power your equipment at the same time the mains supply is connected, unless your controller is a grid connect one.

Myself, I'd split that 100 ohm resistor into two of equal value connected in series a slight safety factor if one goes bung! - though of course I'm used to 240v 50Hz.

This just proves there is more than one way to skin a cat - and I've got two of 'em, so I know :)

There is another way to do what you want - same way as LED traffic lights. Run two series strings of LEDs in parallel. One series is ~ a-k->a-k ---------- etc ~ The other is ~ k-a->k-a ---------- etc ~ Obviously you still need a series resistor for each string and both end connect at their respectiv...

Other than using it as a temperature guage no. However, it is being used by others. There is someone in Brazil who uses it for his mushroom shed.

In fact I've updated the software specifically for them.

Remember Valves?

This is worth 17 minutes and 11 seconds of your life. From the PicList. http://dailymotion.alice.it/video/x3wrzo_fabrication-dune-lampe-triode_tech This reminds a little of Radio Constructor (long gone) in the UK, who had a build your own oscilloscope project (3 or 4 issues) using surplus Philips BP...

How about buttons that work by capacitance? Both Microchip and the PsoC people have a development notes and boards. There are also the pre-made capacitance sensing IC's from Qprox. www.qprox.com Once the PCB buttons have been made then any covering you like (within reason) can be used, alternatively...

LED lighting and Ikea

I took a trip to my local Ikea to day, and noticed that they are selling a variety of AC mains LED lights. The first type is a box of 4 round downlighter types - each roundel contains 10 white leds. The box comes with a SM 230vac ->12vdc converterwith a maximum output power of 5W. They've also got a...

I thought I still had the schematic for the attached circuit including when I had power sense to it. There are a number of ways you can sense the voltage, the simplest and least amount of ocde reuired would be to have a resistive divider across whichever dc supply you are measuring. Dimension the re...
