Re: Drones

Yes, except for the guy that drove up a mountain near his home, launched the drone and told it to go home. 7 miles.
He beat the drone home and watched it land in his backyard.

Sole Treadmill Repair

Picked up (literally!) one Sole F83 Treadmill for free. Couldn't resist the challenge. Big 3 HP motor. It powers on ok, but when the start button is pushed to start the motor, the display flashes a "3", and goes into reset, and starts over again. No obvious signs of problems. Motor turns f...

Re: High Power Ultrasonics

Thanks haklesup- I knew of freeze spray, but never thought to get the liquid in a closed container and have it go bang.
Dry ice works too! :)

Re: Drones

So true, and in 5 years the sky will be filled with them!
Still lots of fun!
I find the "Autonomous" mode a little disturbing where the drone is no longer visible by the pilot. It flies a programmed course by GPS and can be as far away as battery power allows. 5-10 miles!

Re: High Power Ultrasonics

the dog bark should work, maybe throw in a cougar growl for good measure, I can think of all sorts of things a deer should be frightened of. For the poppers, I'm recalling how we used to put freeze mist in a film container and when disturbed they would easily pop open. A motion activated camera wil...

Re: Linear power supply problems

Missing wire from the top of the bridge?

Dropping out at 8 amps may be thermal- do you have an infrared viewer to locate the hotspot? Or, run a fan over the heatsink and see if it behaves that way?

Anybody been playing with these marvels?
I started a few years ago with a Phantom 2, since went through a 2 Vision Plus, and now toying with a Phantom 3 Standard. All bought used/broke.
Loads of tech in these things, and loads of fun!

Re: High Power Ultrasonics

By "booby traps", I meant the trip wire firecracker that would startle the critter that tripped it. Problem there is they're not weather proof. Maintenance headache. Going to go with a motion-detector activated pre-recording of barking dogs. That way, I can periodically change the recordin...

Re: High Power Ultrasonics

Nice one, CeaSaR! :)

The orchard is a few hundred yards into the woods, so no problem in anybody getting disturbed by any noises I make.

Electric fence is another possibility. Or booby traps. :)

Thanks guys!

High Power Ultrasonics

Anybody play around with 100 watts+ ultrasonics? Lots of generators out there for pest control, cleaners, etc., but would like to know if anybody has used such devices for large animal (deer specifically) control. Wondering best frequencies to use, power levels., etc. Many puny gadgets are available...

Re: Possible solution!

OK, thanks! My daughter bought a paddleboard from a shop near me, and after driving 20 miles, I couldn't take the "humming" from the tie ropes any longer! Had to yell to be heard in the car above the singing ropes. Later discovered things like garden hose sections over the ropes would stop...
