You're right.
The red-black-red are 12-12 v.
The two blue wires measure 4.9 volts.
So you think they are two independent coils?
Will the two coils affect each other?
Will it not be 12-12-5 volts?

unmarked transformer
I'm trying to reuse an unmarked transformer. It comes from an EMCO PSR-7 from 1993. I dug it out of the dust from a pile. The transformer has on one side black and white wires for primary. And on the secondary, on top are wires: red-red-black. That measures 24 volts. On the secondary, on the bottom ...

LM1084 input voltage
I have a chip that says LM1084. Not sure which version it is. I know there are 3.3, 5, 12, and adjustable voltage. Specs say the input max voltage is 29 volts. I am using a 25.2 volt AC transformer. Passing the secondary through a bridge rectifier and then a large capacitor ( 63 volts, 470uF electro...

Re: CFL vs. LED Light Bulbs
super duper bright leds sells LEDs by color. Natural white is easier on your eyes and its white enough. Warm white emulates Edison bulbs. Cool white is what you are thinking. its a little on the blue side. That looks the brightest, but its also a little bit uncomfortable for some people. In the bath...

Re: 120v to 4800 v transformer
umm...yah, I wrote those numbers when I was 19 years old....that was over 25 years ago... Anyway, again, I got it at some junky shop that sold old electronics. But it was 10ma somewhere. I have small children who are interested in the glowing florescence lamps. Maybe I'll propel something with the h...

Re: 120v to 4800 v transformer
I live in a crowded urban area in NJ, so not a lot of bugs to massacre.
Well, it causes a florescence lamp to glow when near the transformer.
Do you think the 10mA is rating for the 4.8kv winding or the 120v winding?

Re: 120v to 4800 v transformer
most likely it is not a MOT, as 10Ma. is nothing.. most likely it is a transformer used in a bug zapper,, i have come across many of them at that voltage and Ma. range.. i have some 5ft tall commercial bug zappers made by Flintrol, had 4ft black lights in them. usually either the ballast or zapping...

Re: Raspberry Starter Kit with Projects
To the OP: I've started my own research and I've found there is no shortage of projects on the web, a simple search of Raspberry Pi projects turns up several good websites. In particular, start here https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/ I don't think you will need a physical "BOOK" as the web...

Re: Raspberry Starter Kit with Projects
Why? They include junk you don't need. If you must, you can pick up any one at micro center if you live near one. MCM sells nice ones at a reasonable price. I'll create a kit for you. Buy the board. Buy also: * any cheap micro SD card 16 or 32GB is more than enough * any cheap case for a few dollars...

120v to 4800 v transformer
What do I do with a used 120 V to 4800 V transformer from 1994??? I found an old transformer I picked up in 1994 at a junk shop. It was already used 22 years ago. It was taken out of junked equipment. I don't know what it was taken out of. Its specs: * 120V primary, 10mA * other end is 4800 volts * ...
